The Scandinavian Society for Research in Cardiothoracic Surgery (SSRCTS) is a Scandinavian society with focus on cardiac, vascular, and thoracic research, and is a subdivision of the Scandinavian Association of Thoracic Surgery (SATS). Since 1989 an annual meeting has been hosted in Geilo, Norway. We invites all interdisciplinary researchers within this domain, including cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiologists, engineers, physiologists etc. to attend this meeting.
Clinical and experimental results are encouraged to be submitted for presentation. Both results finished for publication and preliminary results are welcome. In return we can promise a meeting with a relaxed synergetic atmosphere bridging different types of researchers with fruitful discussions during and after the scientific sessions, and with the potential of establishing collaborative consortia from networking.
The meeting is an excellent opportunity to share your latest scientific steps with your peers in the field of cardiac, vascular, or thoracic research, and to learn from experts in the field as well as to interact with the Scandinavian scientific network.
Welcome to the 2025 Geilo Meeting on Cardiovascular and Thoracic Research
Since its establishment in 1989, the Geilo Meeting has been a renowned event held in Norway, initially focused on cardiothoracic surgery under the auspices of the Scandinavian Society for Research in Cardiothoracic Surgery (SSRCTS).
Over the years, the scope of the meeting has expanded to include a wider range of cardiovascular, thoracic, and vascular research.
The meeting welcomes researchers, clinicians, and healthcare professionals from diverse scientific and clinical disciplines.
Whether your work is focused on clinical practice, experimental studies, or early-stage research, the Geilo Meeting provides an important platform for presenting findings, fostering discussions, and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration.
Held at the historic Dr. Holms Hotel, the event offers an inspiring setting that encourages the exchange of ideas and networking. The venue’s unique atmosphere facilitates the development of professional relationships and the exploration of new research directions across multiple specialties.
This gathering offers a valuable opportunity for those involved in cardiovascular, thoracic, and vascular research—whether through surgery, cardiology, engineering, or basic science—to engage with leading experts, share recent advancements, and contribute to the continued evolution of the field.
The Geilo Meeting is supported by the Scandinavian Association of Thoracic Surgery (SATS).
